Find Out Why You Need A Personal Style Manifesto

Hey there lovelies, so happy you’ve joined me here today! This issue is loaded with some serious empowerment of personal style…which I guess is a good thing because why else would we be here :-) However the main article will contribute to clarity for the bigger picture that is your on personal style direction. Yep, it’s a pretty big deal ;-) Enjoy!!
Creating a Personal Style Manifesto:
Define Your Fashion Values and Goals
Do you ever feel like you're aimlessly following trends or buying clothes without a clear idea of what you actually like? Or maybe you're tired of feeling like you have nothing to wear even though your closet is overflowing with clothes? If you're nodding your head in agreement, then it's time to create a personal style manifesto. And yes, I’m deadly serious.
The personal style manifesto is a way of not only declaring your fashion values and goals but also a way of discovering them. It’s a guiding post to help you make intentional choices on style and refine your wardrobe. When we can define our personal style, it empowers our decisions and that contributes to confidence. This isn’t something that has to be concrete, you can always alter or reevaluate as you go.

Here are some steps to help you create your own personal style manifesto:
Prioritize your fashion values - Think about what values are important to you when it comes to fashion. Maybe you value sustainable and ethical fashion. Perhaps you want to express your creativity with an eclectic thrifting direction. Or instead you value a minimalist approach with less consumption.
Identify your fashion goals - What do you want to achieve with your personal style? Do you want to dress with a bit more personality yet professionally for work? Maybe you want to feel more chic on a daily basis? Or it could be that you want to focus on building a realistic capsule wardrobe.
Define your personal aesthetic - What style or aesthetic do you feel drawn to? Think about colors, prints, silhouettes, and fabrics that you love. Look for inspiration on social media, in magazines, or from your favorite celebrities or influencers. Identify different style types and moods (refer to videos down below) that resonate with you. Remember there is no right answer. Maybe you identify with multiple style types or maybe a specific individual one.
Write your manifesto - Now that you have a clear understanding of your fashion values, goals, and aesthetic, it's time to write your personal style manifesto. Your manifesto can be a brief and powerful statement - "I value sustainable and ethical fashion, and I strive to build a wardrobe that reflects my personal style while minimizing my environmental impact." You can also opt to write it out as a mission statement. This way you can write out your reasoning, objectives and direction to refer back to for ongoing inspiration when needed.

Creating a personal style manifesto takes time and reflection, but in the end will make your approach to fashion effortless. In a sea of social comparison it will be a raft that will carry you back to the safety (com’on now, I had to include a metaphor ;-). In the end, It will help you curate a wardrobe that represents you and nobody else.
Quick Tips for Everyday Chic
Belt it! Yes, have some fun with belts. Thank goodness the belting over top everything is back on trend. I love a good oversized blazer but I love that I have the option to then cinch it in to give a whole other silhouette. You could have one outfit but throw a belt over the top of it and you’ve got a whole other one.
Hair accessories are often forgotten about. Do not underestimate the power of a girly barrette contrasted with a casual boyfriend tee. Don’t forget about the hair accessories.
Sunglasses are good…but Edgy Sunglasses are better. You don’t have to go overboard, but if it feels safe…it is. Style praise favors the bold. Sunglasses are such an easy tool to add an extra detail to a look. Choose a pair that says something about you…maybe a more elegant pair, a sophisticated pair or an oversized glam pair. Myself, I always opt for the contemporary round frames.

“If you love something wear it all the time, don’t just suck it all up and consume. Find things that suit you. That's how you look extraordinary.”
Your Weekly Homework
**Last week we talked about getting to know your fits. So this week lets talk about shapes. Start off with your favorite outfit. Lay it flat on the floor and take note of the shapes of each piece. This will give you an insight in the way it drapes on your body. If the top and the bottom piece are a rectangle shape it may make sense why you always opt to tuck the t-shirt into your waist. To change the silhouette of the outfit from rectangle to a more hour glass. When you learn the shapes of your pieces it will make it more obvious on how to style them and your preferences for future choices.

Dear Friends,
So we went from shape shifting, to the power of barrettes and took a left turn at Style Manifesto. Hopefully somewhere in there you found some take aways.
