Embracing Stoic Style in a World of Trends

Welcome Back My Friends!
Here we are, the second issue of our newsletter! This issue is filled with tips and tricks to help you elevate your own personal style. Remember, your outfit is your armor, and it's important to wear it with confidence. So forging habits and practices that contribute to your self identity is key before entering the battle that is everyday life. Hopefully this weeks article can help with your arsenal…..gosh I love a good metaphor ;-) Let’s get into this!
A Method To The Madness - Stoic Styling
In a world of chaos with fleeting trends, relentless campaigns and constant content put in front of us that makes us question every fiber of our being….why not embrace something sturdy. The ancient Stoic principles of self-discipline, virtue, and detachment provide a solid ground to navigate through the modern madness of fashion and style. And let's be honest, who knows more about being cool and collected than the Stoics?
First up, embracing self discipline is key. As a stoic, discipline is what allows for growth and success. So why not apply this to our everyday styling. Challenge yourself to style an outfit everyday with out second guessing, with out comparison to others. This is where you need to channel your inner drill sergeant and get in line with your fashion choices. Stick to your guns, stick to your style and watch that confidence soar!
Next, virtue. Ok, so I’m not talking about being saintly here, but having some moral fiber in your wardrobe choices is a must. Choose clothes that align with your values and make you feel good about yourself. Because when you feel good, you look good, and that's a fact.
Lastly, detachment. Now, don't freak out, I’m not saying you need to give up your beloved designer brands. But social culture and trends should not dictate who you are and your style choices. The more you attach yourself and your decisions to others the more ‘you’ are lost.
So Stoic Styling isn’t a way of styling but an approach. Will it make your style better, I’m not sure, but I can guarantee you it will make you feel better about your style and yourself.

Quick Tips For Everyday Chic
Get to know different fits: The most important aspect of achieving an everyday chic look is knowledge on different fits and silhouettes. Keep in mind that tight fitting is not the only flattering fit. An oversized tee can drape in an effortless way giving a slimming effect. Try a range of fits-form fitting, relaxed, oversized and even tailored.

Accessorize with intention: Accessories can make or break an outfit. Which is why it surprises me how willy-nilly people can be about it. Choose accessories that elevate your outfit rather than distract from it. I love having a few statement pieces that I can add to my more basic looks. Or add watch for a contrast of sophistication with a casual tee.
Start at the bottom: If you’re feeling overwhelmed with styling an outfit I always say, start at the bottom. Jeans, Pants, Skirt etc. are the foundation to an outfit and effect your mood the most for style and comfort. Find a bottom you feel fierce in and it’s down hill from there.

A few things I am loving this week:
Love the effortless chic style of these. Can be worn low or high waisted. A diverse pair of jeans you can have in your wardrobe to dress up or down. Great quality in 100% Organic Cotton.

The Kayla shirt may seem like a lot for a button up shirt but it is one of the best tops I own. The quality and diversity of it is like no other. The High side slits allow for multiple ways of styling this classic piece. If you're in the market for a shirt, this one is well worth the investment.

This piece is one of my favorite things in my closet because when most feel frumpy in their robes I feel chic. Plus it doubles as a long duster cardigan for the springtime and summer. It also has a third purpose as a pool/beach cover up.

Something That Inspired Me
“Style is wearing an evening dress to McDonald’s, wearing heels to play football. It is personality, confidence and seduction.”
